From Portland

The easiest approach. Take I-95 South from Portland to Exit 25 (Kennebunk). From there, Route 9 east brings you into the Kennebunks in about 10 minutes. Portland makes a natural pair — spend a night there before or after Kennebunkport. The drive down the Maine coast on Route 1 is scenic if you have time for it.

From Boston

I-95 North (the Maine Turnpike above Portsmouth) is the fastest route. It's a straight shot — about 85 miles. Take Exit 25 at Kennebunk, then follow Route 9 east into Kennebunkport. Weekend summer traffic can add 30–45 minutes each way. Leave Boston by 9am on Friday to beat the rush.

The Amtrak Downeaster from Boston's North Station to Wells, Maine, is a scenic and stress-free alternative. From Wells, it's a 10-minute Uber ride into Kennebunkport.

From New York City

A committed day trip or a weekend getaway. I-95 North all the way — about 4.5–5 hours depending on traffic. New Haven and Providence are good rest stops. An Amtrak train to Boston followed by the Downeaster makes a more relaxing journey for the car-averse.

Parking in Kennebunkport

Parking near Dock Square is limited and fills quickly on summer weekends. Free parking lots are available a 10-minute walk from the square — or park further out and bike in. Beach parking requires a town permit (available at Town Hall and from parking attendants).
